Teenager Cheats Death Because of Parking Sensors

A young schoolgirl who was walking home from school cheated death as she was nearly struck down by an Alfa Romeo driven by a local Twickenham woman. Fortunately, due to the recent stories about the two Twickenham men who were caught after beating and robbing a man in a pub car park, the divorced mum had installed parking sensors on her Alfa Romeo car.

Parking accidents and freak accidents such as those that occur when someone is pulling out of driveway fast and hits another person or vehicle occur all of the time in the United Kingdom. In many cases, people get killed when this happens, or seriously injured. For this reason, more and more drivers in the UK are opting for parking sensors on their cars.

Parking sensors are not difficult to attain. You can go online on sites like Parking Dynamics and get them for any make or model car that there is. They even make a universal parking sensor for all car types. They attach easily onto the back of the front or rear bumper. Some people even put them on the sides of the car.

They are comparable to a car alarm only they work even better because they work when you are inside the car. They can signal you to stop as you are in close proximity to another vehicle, person or object.

The teenager who was almost run over by the Alfa Romeo is just one who had a brush with death this year due to a freak accident. Others were not so lucky. One woman lost her hand because someone who backed into her while she was loading groceries into the boot of her car caused the boot to crash down and sever her hand.

An elderly man was also killed when he got into the path of a car pulling out of a garage. Some children have been killed because they are too little to see when looking in the rearview.

Fortunately, more people are becoming aware about parking sensors and how they can potentially save lives. With more and more UK drivers being distracted while driving due to mobiles and other hand held devices, there seems to be a need for an alarm system that tells someone when they are too close to an object.

Parking sensors are inexpensive and easy to operate. Once they are installed by the magnetic strip that is attached, you have nothing to worry about. You should test them out to make sure that they do emit the proper sound when close to an object so that you know that they are working properly before venturing out onto the road.

The 14 year old schoolgirl, who did not want to give her name, is only one of the latest in string of near misses when it comes to accidents caused by drivers pulling out of driveways without being totally aware as well as pedestrians not paying attention to what is gong on around them. Fortunately, this incident, unlike some others, had a happy ending.

I can't believe the ease by which the parking sensor was fitted and we just love the discrete 'hidden' sensor design. What a difference the PD1 makes to both mine and my wife's parking and reversing.

The audible alert keeps our attention to a maximum level and really helps with tight parking spaces.
