Rear parking sensors

It is quite natural that drivers are affected by restricted visibility at times. This may be caused by condensation, fog, frost, or even badly lit parking garages where visibility is poor. A modern car design makes it difficult to gauge just how close you are to an object. It is very important for the car driver to detect obstacles otherwise it might lead to some serious problems. Rear parking sensors detect obstacles behind you while reversing – audible alarm and/or visual displays available with sensor units.

Kinds of rear parking sensors
Generally you can get 2 and 4 rear parking sensor units. Rear parking sensors are available in various colours and you can also avail colour matching service. Some manufacturers provide 2 and 4 front rear parking sensor units with dashboard mounted visual display unit.  The rear distance sensing might be up to 170cm while front unit sensing distances up to 90cm.

Rear parking sensors have 160 degree wide horizontal detection range and 60 degree wide vertical detection performance. Rear parking sensors have advanced ultrasonic asymmetric sensing technology with audio and/or digital warning system.

The Parking Sensor uses ultrasonic technology to calculate the exact position of an object within its detection range. When reverse gear is selected, rear parking sensors is activated.

When an object comes within range, the rear parking sensor will emit a steady beeping sound to alert you. Once you move within 0.9 m of the object, the beeping sound becomes faster until you are within 0.45 m. At this point the sound becomes a constant tone to warm you not to proceed any further. Certain rear parking sensor systems include a digital display, which shows the position of obstructions.

Rear parking sensors are inexpensive
When backing up from your garage or your local grocery parking lot, rear parking sensors are useful.  Almost all luxury cars have reverse parking sensor which costs approximately an approximate $1,400 or more.  Car backup sensors are inexpensive to install and extremely useful.

Some of the top brands include Nissan, Toyota, and many other manufacturers. It is always best to buy branded rear parking sensors. They give you warranty and lot of other service. Another thing is that you must find an established outlet that fits them correctly. I guess they are a bit like car alarms, if you get them fitted properly they will work well.

Rear parking sensors are also fitted in small cars. This makes it a very special feature which the buyers look for when they compare with other cars. Rear parking sensors’ market is still in the nascent stage but it has huge growth potential in the long run. Hence all the major manufacturers are scaling up their operations to increase the technology and make it even cheaper.
