Car Parking Sensors

Today’s world of hectic driving and increasing number of cars has put a huge pressure of parking space. Though the municipalities as well as builders are trying to tackle this problem by coming up with innovative and practical parking solutions, still parking spaces are becoming scarce and congested.

How many times you have dented or scratched you your car while trying to maneuver it into narrow parking space? The rear window mirrors and the dexterity of your neck do not seem to be accurate enough, do they? How you wish you had someone standing outside to help you and give a shout as you were veering dangerously close to any object?

Sounds good, doesn’t it? So should you get a friend installed in your car to always come with you while driving? No. You should get a car parking sensor installed in your car.

Car parking sensors are electronic or electromagnetic devices used for safely reversing cars. Statistics show that most of the accidents occur when a driver fails to accurately judge the proximity of his/her own vehicle from another vehicle while parking the car. Car parking sensors allow the drivers of all types of automobiles, such as trucks, cars or other light or heavy vehicles, to backup their vehicles safely while parking.

These car parking sensors alert the driver regarding any obtrusive objects in their parking pathway. Car parking sensors are also sometimes referred to as backup sensors or parking sonar.

Usually, a car parking sensor is installed on the bumper or bracket of the car. These car parking sensors use ultrasonic waves, which are sent at 40,000 times / second, to detect any potential obstructions. A controller of the car parking sensor is installed inside the car that receives the signal from the car parking sensor, which it sends to a speaker or a speaker and display combination unit.

The speaker of the car parking sensor in turn emits a warning tone, and if a display is also present, which may either show lines or any other signal, depending on the model.

The most common warning signal in car parking sensors is the “beep” which is emitted whenever the car parking sensor senses any nearby obstruction. These audible beeps become faster and shriller as the distance between the car and the obstruction lessens.

Visual displays also follow a similar rule, with the lines on the display getting lesser as the car approaches a potential obstruction. A combination car parking sensor displays the lines and emits the sound as well.

Car parking sensors are available in the market with various features and variations.
