How I Lost My Hand In A Freak Parking Accident

I was coming out of a shopping centre and loading groceries into the boot of my car when all of the sudden I felt something hit me from behind. The next thing I knew, I was in hospital and missing my left hand. My right hand was all bandaged. I was the victim of a freak parking accident.

I passed out when the boot slammed down on my hands, severing one and severely damaging my right hand. People in the car park called an ambulance and I was taken to an area hospital. Doctors tried to reattach my hand but it was too badly damaged, despite attempts by bystanders to place it in a large glass of ice.

The sad thing is that the man who hit me had purchased parking sensors for his car the day before but had not yet installed them. Now my promising career as a concert pianist has come to a halt and I have resorted to working at a chemist shop in town.

Because of all the fuss over parking sensors for cars that has been going around lately, I purchased BMW parking sensors for my car several months prior to the accident and installed them myself. This was easy to do then as I still had two hands. Ironically, I purchased my BMW car sensors at Parking Dynamics, the same place where the man who hit me in the freak parking accident purchased his.

They were inexpensive and easy to install. I got one for each bumper because I did not want anything happening to my car. I am currently learning to drive a special car that has been made for me with an automatic transmission. The first thing that I did when I got this car was get parking sensors for the vehicle.

Vehicle sensors can save lives as well as limbs. Each year, hundreds of people are injured in the United Kingdom in parking accidents. Many of them are children who run out in front of cars. I purchased my BMW vehicle sensors because of a case of an elderly man who was hit and killed as he walked behind a car that was pulling out of a garage. After that incident, I figured that everyone was getting vehicle sensors.

My BMW vehicle sensors were easy to operate. After they were installed, I simply had to listen for a beep. The beep in device in the front bumper was different than that in the back bumper. Either way, I knew that when I heard that beep that I had to stop the car immediately because it was coming into contact with an object or another person or animal. This is how vehicle sensors work. They let you know if you are getting too close.

Had the man who hit my car in the freak parking accident had the foresight to install the vehicle sensors in his car before that fateful day, I would not be missing a hand. He would have heard a beep and it would have alerted him that he had to stop. I also blame myself for listening to my IPOD, as I was also distracted. Parking sensors make perfect sense. They are inexpensive, easy to obtain and install and can save lives as well as prevent serious injuries.

I can't believe the ease by which the parking sensor was fitted and we just love the discrete 'hidden' sensor design. What a difference the PD1 makes to both mine and my wife's parking and reversing.

The audible alert keeps our attention to a maximum level and really helps with tight parking spaces.
