Electromagnetic Parking Sensor Installation - Learning the process

EPS Parking sensor is an extremely sophisticated electromagnetic technology that detects the objects behind a vehicle. Electromagnetic parking sensors have been developed to prevent accidents by providing acoustics signals. The sensor in the device gets automatically activated once the back gear is inserted and assists in making the parking operation easier. Adding to facilities, the device offers an easy process of installation.

The best electromagnetic parking sensor - PD1 from Parking Dynamics is installed through a 3-wire installation method. Moreover, it is provided with Universal Installation Instructions, which makes the process of installation not only easier, but also more safe and simple. Going through the instructions even a novice may accomplish the job of installation perfectly.

The Parking Dynamics PD1 systems are no drill, ultra discreet, reliable and high performance product, which can be easily fitted into a range of cars. The PD1 is compatible with most of the vehicles with plastic bumpers. However, it’s not a matter of concern even if the bumper is partly metallic.

For successful Electromagnetic Parking Sensor installation, you need to follow the process provided below:

Mounting the Unit

To begin with, install the unit adjacent to the reversing light behind the trim and attach to the trim or body. However, it would better to choose the passenger side. Now, the antenna wire from the unit is passed through the hole (provided by manufacturer) with the grommet fitted joining the antenna on the bumper. However, if the hole is not provided it can be drilled, and the wire can be passed through it with the grommet. In case, there is no space behind the vehicle, the unit can be behind the bumper.

Electrical Connections

The black wire is used for earth connection. It is connected to the ground chassis of the car. Attach the earth wire close to the light cluster at rear of the vehicle.

The red wire is a 12V supply wire, which lightens up when the reverse gear is selected. It has to be connected to the light cluster situated at the rear of the vehicle. The white 4 pin of the connector should be plugged into the electronic control unit.

The black twin wires have to be added to the spade terminal. Fit the white connector to the electronic unit and run wire with spade.  Connect it to an adhesive antenna with the connector.

Mounting the Speaker

The speakers of the parking sensor can be mounted on the rear parcel shelf or the plastic trim or shelf with the help of adhesive mount. The unit has a good volume enough for a warning, even when it is mounted on the trim. It can be done through a push fit connection.

Removal of Bumper

Most of the vehicle bumpers are made from plastic. Depending on the car, Electromagnetic Parking Sensor installation like PD1 can be accomplished by removing the bumper or just by relaxing the bumper by loosening the screw.

If you are not willing to do it yourself, you can also hire a mechanic, auto electricians, or body shop technicians for installation, who will do the job, literally within minutes.

Save Your Car, Learn How To Fit Parking Sensors

Who doesn’t want to go for a long drive along the highways, or take a drive down the row for shopping or even a small hang out? However, the thoughts of a lovely drive get cracked as soon as the many hassles associated with parking come to mind. Yes, almost all the drivers suffer from the chronic anxiety of falling into rear accidents. The perpetual hazards of parking or backing the car has led to a monumental rise of accidents with most of the drivers. The only saviour to pull you out of such an unwanted situation is an effective parking sensor.

Parking sensors are most suitable to detect any hindrance or obstacle guarding the path of the car. When it becomes quite impossible to determine objects at the rear of the car through naked eye, reversing sensors play a vital role. The easy installation of the reverse sensors at the rear of your vehicle prevents you from landing into unwanted reverse accidents that are high on a rise with most car owners. The sensor sends an alarm to the driver as soon as it detects any hindrance in the path of the car, thus preventing an accident.

How to fit parking sensors on your own

The installation procedure is quite convenient. You can try installing the parking sensors yourself, with the help of the sensor kit that is available with the parking sensor. But before that, you must know where and how to fit parking sensors on your car. Every parking sensor must be fitted in such a way so that it works effectively and does not ruin the look of your car.

The sensor is generally fitted at the back bumper of the car, while the alarm is placed below the car’s front hood. The LED screen that projects the alert signal for the car is fixed on the dashboard in front of the driver’s seat. To fix the sensor, the foremost thing you need to do is locate the position to place it as mentioned in the diagram available with the sensor kit. Before that, you must drill holes on the bumper, with a hole saw.

After positioning the sensor in place, it is the time to do with the connections. Place the sensor horizontally, with the recessed sensor surface faced upwards. After that, adjust the display unit into the pedestal. The controller should be installed to suit both the sensors and the display unit. Then it is to be connected to a +12V power supply, along with the sensors and the display unit. After everything done, do not forget to check whether the parking sensor is properly fitted to the car. Take a small test drive and check the accuracy of the device.

Parking sensors fitting

Parking sensor kits are the latest technology driven devices which help driving make a simple and enjoyable experience. More than the aid for simple driving these parking sensors have become a must have devices, thanks to the limited parking space and frequent traffic jams.

Novice drivers usually make mistakes while reversing their car and more often then not end up making some mistake or causing some damage to their as well as other car. Parking a car in a small space is very difficult and needs good concentration, above average car handling skills, efficiency and accurate judgment.

If you have a small family car then the job gets a bit easier, but parking a long and big lavish looking sedan with big tiers is a big problem. Invariably these big cars have large turning radius and are difficult to maneuver.

People tend to forget two very important things, first, the car’s pick up increases in its reverse gear; and second, the objects that are seen in the rear view mirror are much closer than they appear.

People trying to reverse their car using the rear view mirror as their aid many a times dash the objects behind them. Novice drivers are most likely to make this mistake. Parking sensors are the best solution for all this problems. They help you park your car perfectly in the restricted space without any fuss or any hassle.

Many types of parking sensors are available in the market. Many new generation cars come with pre-installed parking sensors. Many companies sell such parking sensor devices and each device has some unique specialty or a unique feature. Installing or fitting a parking sensor in a car is very easy.

The parking sensor kit contains all the necessary tips and directions, tools and other necessary components. Many people choose to install their parking sensors on their own at home. These can be fitted in your car even at the nearest garage. Different parking sensors need to be installed in different ways to get the maximum performance and accuracy.

Parking sensors which come with a LCD screen and camera are installed in the following way; the camera is very small and is generally fitted in the rear indicator panel or below the rear bumper, while the LCD screen is fixed on top of the dash board. The camera uses fuzzy view technology to transmit clear and sharp images. The camera is auto focusable and auto adjustable.

Parking sensors which come with a LED screen and a sensing device can be fitted in this way; the senses device is fitted in the plastic rear bumper of the car or on the rear wheel axel as preferred by the user. The LED screen is fixed on the dash board and the whereabouts of the object behind the car can be viewed on it.

Parking sensors which use sensing device and alarm as their components follow the same method of installation as that of the sensing device and LED screen. The only difference the alarm is fitted under the front hood of the car.

How to fit parking sensors?

Novice car drivers dread the idea that they have to cramp their car in the limited parking space on the offer. They are not very confident and invariable end up making some mistake.

This has become a problem for many car users. With an increasing number of cars on the road the available space for parking and also the roads always seem smaller and never meet the demand. This also causes traffic jams and accidents. Some people avoid taking their cars to crowded places and prefer taking some other mode of transport. The designs of cars have also undergone a huge change.

While reversing the car, many people forget that the car accelerates faster in reverse gear than in any forward gear. This results in accidents and other incidents. People also tend to forget a small tip that ‘objects in the rear view mirror are closer than they appear’ another contributing factor that increases the risk of an accident.

Rear view mirrors show only half of the object as they can not reflect the image of the object appearing below the cars rear bumpers.

An aid for reversing your car and make you more efficient when it comes to parking your car in the cramped space is known as parking sensors. There are many types of parking sensors available in the market.

Various companies produce and market these parking sensors, and every parking sensor has a distinctive quality. The new generation cars usually come fitted with these parking sensors.

For older cars which do not have these parking aids, they can get it in the nearest car shop or showroom. These parking sensors are very easy to install and can be installed at home or in any garage near your place.

Each parking sensor must be fitted or installed in a specific way to get the optimum results.

  • LCD screen and Camera arrangement: These devices uses a camera to transmit the images of objects behind the car and are then displayed on the LCD screen. A small LCD screen is fixed on the dash board of the car. The camera is auto focused and auto adjustable. To transmit sharp and clear images fuzzy view technology is used. These cameras are very small in size and are usually fitted with the rear indicators or below the rear bumper as preferred by the user.

  • LED screen and sensors: Sensors are fitted in the rear plastic bumper of the car and the LED screen is on the dashboard of the car.

  • Sensors with alarm: The sensors are fitted in the rear plastic bumper and the alarming device is fixed under the front hood of the car.

Installing Parking Sensors

If you have a car that is not equipped with parking sensors, you can easily purchase these potentially life saving devices online and install them yourself.

You do not need to drill into the car or perform any mechanical feats of wonder. The only thing you need to do is to use the magnetic strip on the back of the device and hook it up to the bumper of your car.

You can install parking sensors on the front bumper or rear bumper. Most people prefer reverse parking sensors over front parking sensors because more accidents occur when someone is backing up than pulling forward. There are those, however, who install parking sensors on both bumpers of the car and even the sides of the car.

There are hundreds of parking accidents that cause some sort of injury each year in the United Kingdom. Most of these can be avoided if the vehicles were only equipped with parking sensors.

These easy to install and inexpensive devices are available online for all makes and models of cars. There is no reason for anyone not to have them.

You do not need to have any mechanical skills to install parking sensors. You can use parking sensor installation kits if you like that provide the small tools you need if you do not have any tools of your own. You do not have to bring your car to the garage to have these devices installed.

Once you have successfully installed parking sensors on your car, you should then test them out to make sure that they work. They should emit a sound when you are within a certain proximity to an object. This distance as well as the sound can be controlled by you.

Most parking sensors emit a loud beeping noise when approaching any object, similar to how a car alarm works. This allows the driver a chance to stop the car before he or she backs into anything or any one.

Damage to vehicles in car parks amounts to the millions in the UK each year. Trolleys get loose near market places and fall into cars or two cars back out of a parking space at the same time. Most people who are driving their cars today are somewhat distracted and make mistakes when parking or pulling out of parking places.

Damage to vehicles is the least of the problems. People and animals have been known to be injured or killed when cars back into them. Installing parking sensors is the only smart thing to do to avoid these type of parking accidents.

Do not wait until you have hit someone or something before you take action and install parking sensors onto the bumpers of your car. They are easy to install and no one will even know that they are there.

They are an alarm system that will sound when you are too close to an object or an object is too close to you. They may very well save the life of a child, adult or pet that gets too close to your car when you are parking, pulling away or not paying attention when you are driving

Customer Testimonials

I can't believe the ease by which the parking sensor was fitted and we just love the discrete 'hidden' sensor design. What a difference the PD1 makes to both mine and my wife's parking and reversing.

The audible alert keeps our attention to a maximum level and really helps with tight parking spaces.

Once again guys, the car parking sensor is a great product, easy to install and makes reversing and parking so much easier and assuring.
