Garage Parking Sensor - Make easy entry to your garage with PD1

These days parking has turned into a panic with crunch of space in the parking places and garages. Whether you have a small car or a big one, parking is even not easy in the personal garages with narrow space. Especially for new drivers, parking the car even in the family garage is challenging. Most of us expect drivers to be expert enough to park the cars even without the help of parking aids, but once a mishap occurs, you can’t save your car from damage.

Those with an average sized vehicle, face the daily challenge of getting the car in and out of the garage ensuring that the vehicle has suffered no damages along the sides. Garage parking is even more difficult with those who have large sized cars of 4-by-4. The car backup sensor can be a great assistance while backing up the car into the garage. With a parking sensor, you can safely park the car and drive it through a limited space without any damage done.

There are many garage parking sensors, which can be fitted to the walls of your garage to alarm you from colliding with any object. These parking sensors start sensing and raise an alarm, when the vehicle is in danger of hitting an obstacle. These are ultrasonic sensor units, which determine the distance between the car and the wall. It provides a guide light that is displayed to the driver on the "traffic light" display.

There is other laser-guided garage parking sensors aid, which is more reliable and easy to handle. This device makes it easier to know that the car is heading towards the garage wall. These devices are equipped with lights. The color of the lights change and indicate when you need to advance or when you should slow down, or when its time to halt. The unit also enables calculation of the distance between the garage wall and your car. Further, the system also encloses a memory module, which remembers the preferences of the driver.

Another sophisticated garage parking sensor is The Park ‘n Place, which is quite simple to use. Moreover, it is easy install the unit. Just the different parts have to be snapped together and set in. The face of the sign lights up when the car hits the sign and it will move slightly.

Built-in Parking Sensors

There are built-in backup sensors, which might help to park cars in garage. However, these do not correspond to the average dimension of all garages. These are especially ineffective with the large cars, which are not planned according to average garage size.

However, the latest electromagnetic sensors score far over other sensors. The Parking Dynamics PD1 is one such system, which offers excellent reverse parking sensor or garage parking sensor. These can be installed on the front and rear bumpers for greater parking protection. Just wire the PD1 with an independent switch, which can be placed in front or rear of the vehicle. Now, you can drive your car safely into the garage. Moreover, PD1 is 100% accurate in all weather conditions and its easy 3-wire easy installation does not even require you to make holes on the car bumpers.

The car alarms are compatible with all types of autos and designed to offer quality protection to the car at a sensible price. Further, these systems can be customized according to the vehicle-make and the buyer’s budget.

How it works?

Car alarms feature interior sensors, which can sense and detect when the car is tilted, or the glass is broken or even if the car is being jacked up to steal the wheels and tires. Sensors of the device triggers alarm, if there is an intentional or accidental collision. This alerts the owner of the vehicle about an attempt of theft.

Apart from providing high security, the car alarms also double up as parking alarm. It is quite difficult to manage parallel parking systems, which involves higher risk of collision while moving in or out of the space. The system alerts the driver if the car is too close to the wall, to avoid wrecking. These systems are more beneficial than the blind spots. With such an alarm, parallel parking becomes simple and it is easier to back up.

Are there better options?

Yes, the PD1 parking sensor alarms are exclusively designed products compatible for almost all types of autos. Equipped with state-of-art-technology, PD1 is incomparable when it comes to quality and features. Not only easy to install, but this alarm system also provides invaluable and timely protection from dangers. Garage parking aids - Your Best Assistant For Car Parking

Parking cars in the garages is not an easy job for all, especially for the novice drivers it is a panicking task. It is quite challenging to park a car in garages with crunch of space. Particularly in the public places or public parking just a wrong judgment can lead to a crash, enough to spoil the look of your new car. Often the driver commits a mistake and the end result is a damaged car. Further, it needs great effort to get the big cars settled in personal garages with smaller places. The best way to get rid of car parking troubles is to take the help of garage parking solution.

The latest garage parking aids are sophisticated devices, which makes car parking easier and safer for the driver in congested areas. Parking aid manufacturers have developed parking sensors that alarms the driver on the obstacles lying behind the car. Such a parking aid is of great help for those who are not comfortable with the rear view mirrors and fear accidents. One of the most common fallacies with the drivers is that they forget that the objects in the rear view mirror are closer than they appear on the mirror.

Normally, the garage parking aid encloses two devices - rear parking sensors and front parking sensors. The parking sensors assist in parking your car in the garage efficiently and perfectly. It provides an idea about the place where the obstruction is located. There are garage parking aids suppliers who offer a variety of devices according to your needs.

Different Types of Garage Parking Aid

There are different types of garage parking aids, categorized on the basis of make and functions. Some of the parking aids use markers, others have floor stops or still others use sounds or electronic beams that help to locate the parking space precisely.

One of the latest parking aid devices are those with camera and LCD screen. The device comes with two cameras that can be hidden under the front or back bumper or placed on the front and back indicator panel. These cameras attached to the car transmit live, clear and sharp images of the objects, which appear in front as well as behind the car. These garage parking aid devices come with LED screens, sensing device and alarms, etc.

Ultrasonic Garage Parking Sensor

It is a high-tech garage parking sensor, which is also known as Park-zone. It appears as a space age traffic light. This is really an amazing device to have in your car. Overall, it is a guiding-system for a parking car.

This device is hung on the wall and prevents guides that helps the driver to stop the vehicle exactly where it is required, calculating the distance from the wall. However, this advanced system is quite easy to operate and far more superior than the sensor technology. Hang the system on a carport wall or a garage and decide the park zone by setting the distance of the wall from bumper through the ultrasonic sensor. The device would surely locate the spot with precision whenever you need.

Electromagnetic Parking Sensors Or Ultrasonic Parking Sensors - Which One To Choose

Parking is no more a child’s play as it used to be, when parking spaces were large. The situation gets worse for the driver, especially when parking in unfamiliar and tight places. Often the cars get dents in the bumpers or underbody panel while reversing. There are every chances of colliding with bollards or low wall lying behind the car, which are not visible through rear view mirror. This problem can be effectively solved by parking sensors, which makes driving easier and safer. The sensors are fitted at the front and back of the car. These determine the proximity of an obstruction behind the car and provide an audible warning to the drive.

In some vehicles, sensors come as factory-fitted item. Further, there are different parking sensors available in market to fit different vehicles. However, since there are different parking sensors it is quite difficult to determine their efficiency without knowing their operational capabilities.

Types of Parking Sensors

In general, the parking sensors can be divided into two categories - Electromagnetic systems and Ultrasonic systems.

Essentially, the ultrasonic sensor emits an ultrasonic signal, which is reflected by an obstruction. When the sensor gets closer to the object, it starts emitting signals faster to the sensor. This signal is converted into audible sound. This is received in the form of an audible warning. Depending on the distance of the object, the beat of the audible sound lowers or grows louder.  The driver has to react to the audible noise.

The ultrasonic system is an older technology with 4 to 6 sensors mounted in the bumper and are visible to all. In order to mount the sensors, holes have to be drilled in the bumper that might spoil the look of your car. Further, you need to paint them to match color of the bumper. Some of the cars enclose crash protection bar behind the bumper, in such cases the ultrasonic system has to be installed in depth of the bumpers. There are quite a lot of hassles involved with ultrasonic parking sensors, which has popularized the more competent system of electromagnetic sensors.  The electromagnetic sensors have overcome the shortcomings of the ultrasonic parking sensors to a greater extent.

The PD1 is one of the most successful parking systems making use of the unique Electromagnetic Technology, which is typical with only a few privileged cars manufacturers. These sensors are immaculately designed to be fitted easily, without compromising with the ‘new factory look’ of your car. This electromagnetic system operates by creating an electromagnetic field in the vicinity of the sensors. Any kind of intrusion in the force field generates a warning.

In contrast to Ultrasonic technology with 4 to 6 exposed sensors, which requires regular cleaning and maintenance, the electromagnetic technology is concealed and self diagnostic. Therefore, it requires no maintenance.

Some of the cars have edges on the bumpers, projecting from the rest of the body. Most often these edges are battered, since the driver is unable to see the corners. The electromagnetic units are designed to avoid such collisions. The antenna of the electromagnetic system covers the entire length of the bumper, which detects objects at the corners and sides.

Further, the electromagnetic parking sensors have no visible parts. These are fitted discretely and are hidden. It is only the driver who knows that it is fitted. It ensures that there is no problem with installation. The PD1 can be fitted without drilling the bumper and it is completely discrete and invisible when on the vehicle. With the electromagnetic sensors your car now has higher value and is a more desirable car.

Controller Area Network - Efficient Control System For Vehicles

The Controller Area Network or CAN bus is an integrated electronic control system installed in the vehicles and machineries to save construction, building and cabling. It is a specifically designed computer network protocol and bus that enables communication between devices and micro controllers without any hosting computer. The CAN bus control system has been widely successful and popular with the vehicles.

Initially developed for automotive application, CAN bus is compatible with international standards. For this reason, it is extensively used to for generating control system. Since CAN bus is used in huge volumes, all its components are available at affordable rates. It has high transmitter reliability and high transfer rate. In addition to recognizing data error, the system is perfect for controlling noisy environments.

Most of the automobiles today have Electronic Control Units (ECU) for different subsystems. Normally, engine control unit is the biggest processor in such a system. Other units are also included like cruise control, audio systems, windows, mirror adjustment, transmission, airbags, anti-lock braking etc. Out of these, there are some subsystems, which work independently, however the others need to communicate with each other to function. The subsystem must obtain feedback from sensors as well as manage the actuators. This communication is accomplished through CAN.

PD1 CAN Bus Wiring Systems

One of the most compatible CAN bus wiring systems - Parking Dynamics PD1 is easy to install and requires no adjustment or extra equipments to install. This CAN Bus multiplex wiring system are successfully used in cars and vehicles. Moreover, these systems are more popular than other ultrasonic systems which require extra wiring and relay components to integrate with the CAN bus.

How it works?

CAN is connected to Electronic Control Units (ECUs) through different serial bus standards. Each node uses a host-processor to send or receive message. However, this is not done simultaneously. The message with an ID (chosen to identify the message sender or type) is transmitted serially onto the bus. A message of up to eight bytes can be sent with each bit transferred one-by-one. The signal-pattern codes the message and all the nodes interpret it.

The vehicles may use the CAN bus to connect the transmission to engine control unit, or connect the seat control, door locks, climate control, etc. on a different bus. Due to the low cost of CAN controllers and processors, these also serve as field bus in general automation environments.  However, for official use of CAN, it is required to pay a fee to acquire a CAN Protocol License.

Electromagnetic Parking Sensor Installation - Learning the process

EPS Parking sensor is an extremely sophisticated electromagnetic technology that detects the objects behind a vehicle. Electromagnetic parking sensors have been developed to prevent accidents by providing acoustics signals. The sensor in the device gets automatically activated once the back gear is inserted and assists in making the parking operation easier. Adding to facilities, the device offers an easy process of installation.

The best electromagnetic parking sensor - PD1 from Parking Dynamics is installed through a 3-wire installation method. Moreover, it is provided with Universal Installation Instructions, which makes the process of installation not only easier, but also more safe and simple. Going through the instructions even a novice may accomplish the job of installation perfectly.

The Parking Dynamics PD1 systems are no drill, ultra discreet, reliable and high performance product, which can be easily fitted into a range of cars. The PD1 is compatible with most of the vehicles with plastic bumpers. However, it’s not a matter of concern even if the bumper is partly metallic.

For successful Electromagnetic Parking Sensor installation, you need to follow the process provided below:

Mounting the Unit

To begin with, install the unit adjacent to the reversing light behind the trim and attach to the trim or body. However, it would better to choose the passenger side. Now, the antenna wire from the unit is passed through the hole (provided by manufacturer) with the grommet fitted joining the antenna on the bumper. However, if the hole is not provided it can be drilled, and the wire can be passed through it with the grommet. In case, there is no space behind the vehicle, the unit can be behind the bumper.

Electrical Connections

The black wire is used for earth connection. It is connected to the ground chassis of the car. Attach the earth wire close to the light cluster at rear of the vehicle.

The red wire is a 12V supply wire, which lightens up when the reverse gear is selected. It has to be connected to the light cluster situated at the rear of the vehicle. The white 4 pin of the connector should be plugged into the electronic control unit.

The black twin wires have to be added to the spade terminal. Fit the white connector to the electronic unit and run wire with spade.  Connect it to an adhesive antenna with the connector.

Mounting the Speaker

The speakers of the parking sensor can be mounted on the rear parcel shelf or the plastic trim or shelf with the help of adhesive mount. The unit has a good volume enough for a warning, even when it is mounted on the trim. It can be done through a push fit connection.

Removal of Bumper

Most of the vehicle bumpers are made from plastic. Depending on the car, Electromagnetic Parking Sensor installation like PD1 can be accomplished by removing the bumper or just by relaxing the bumper by loosening the screw.

If you are not willing to do it yourself, you can also hire a mechanic, auto electricians, or body shop technicians for installation, who will do the job, literally within minutes.

The Truth About No Holes Car Parking Sensor

In today’s fast and industrious world, with almost every other individual owning and driving their own cars, issues concerning the safety and precaution of damage to vehicles and pedestrians vehicle parking systems have taken a new form and shape altogether.

This new and cutting edge technology has enhanced parking systems and these are flying high in the automobile sector. These sensors are sensitive and detect all kinds of obstacles that approach the cars exterior within a certain range alerting the driver to these giving them plenty of time to react. Ultimately they prevent bumps, bangs and tragic accidents when parking and reversing

Types of parking sensors:

Parking sensors are found in two categories. One falls under the Ultrasonic System and the other, Electromagnetic System like the Parking Dynamics PD1.

- Ultrasonic sensors: Here the 3, 4 or 6 sensors send out an ultrasonic wave that detects the presence of any obstruction in the car’s proximity. The nearer it gets to the obstacle the faster it is able to send the signal back to the control unit.

To alert the driver of the detected object and its position, a circuit is made to send a signal through an audible device. Using a number of ugly sensors mounted in the cars bumper, be it 3, 4 or even 6 this type of sensor requires continuos maintence to achieve optimum operation.

- Electromagnetic Sensors: This type of sensor unlike the Ultrasonic System create an electromagnetic field around the front or rear of the vehicle even onto the sides of the vehicle.

The system detects all objects within 3 feet of the bumper and start to signal instantly via a series of clear and different audible tones that alert the driver of approaching obstacles. The electromagnetic sensors are maintenance free and require no bumper holes to be drilled unlike the ultrasonic sensor type.

Take a look at the Parking Dynamics PD1 Sensor in action: http://www.parkingdynamics.co.uk/

Electromagnetic Sensor Unique Design:

Ultrasonic sensors are found mostly on basic to mid range vehicles, but a few elite manufacturers have now moved over to the electromagnetic type due to its ‘invisible when fitted’ design that allows you to keep the new factory look of your bumper and car. This shift is now starting to happen in the retail sector as this unique design enables value to remain in vehicles.

While fitting the ultrasonic sensors you are required to drill holes in the bumper of the car, the Electromagnetic ones are simply placed behind car’s bumper.

The entire electromagnetic system comprises an adhesive antenna tape, an electronic unit, acoustic speaker and simple wiring kit making installation a doddle. Once fitted, this no holes (no-drill) parking sensor sends out a clear signal to the driver as soon as any object falls into the magnetic field created within its proximity protecting your vehicle at all sides and front and back.

The advantages of no holes car parking sensor:

The Electromagnetic parking sensors are designed to provide protection to your car, while keeping the orginal aesthetics totally intact. The sensors are installed so that they remain completely invisible to the naked eye. Whats more, as they can are placed behind the car’s bumper without any drilling, these sensors are compatible with all cars, vehicles, motor homes, etc.

Unlike its the ultrasonic type of sensor, the Electromagnetic sensors are simple to install. While the ultrasonic type requires wiring, painting of the sensor and wiring behind the bumper, the electro magnetic type of sensors is completely free of those issues.

The Electromagnetic no holes car parking sensor has proved to be extremely suitable for cars and other vehicles while parking and reversing with a massive reduction in bumps, bangs, expensive collions and as a result insurance claims. As they are installed on the inner side of your bumper and invisible from external exposure, they have a minimal chance of suffering any damage from external forces and a replacement antenna tape costs less than 1 ultrasonic sensor.

In addition to alerting the driver of cars within its proximity they also detect children, the elderly, walls and a myriad of other obstructions behind the vehicle. They are also now becoming well respected for their 100% efficiency in all weather conditions and their compatibility with all modern wiring systems.

These sensors are widely used in truck, automobiles and other commercial vehicles and alert the drivers about obstacles in the path. Depending on the variations in design and features of the system, sensors are placed in the vehicle’s bumper or on brackets. In order to detect the obstructions behind the vehicle the sensors make use of ultrasonic waves. The signals from the waves are detected by a controller inside the vehicle that receives the signal from the sensors, which is transmitted to the speakers producing a tone. There are other sensors that provide a combination of speaker as well as display.

Why no drill parking sensor is best for you

Most people look for sensors that can be easily fitted, such as the latest parking sensors featuring electromagnetic technology. These are universally compatible with any small van, car, caravan and other autos. Such sensors have no visible part and needs no drilling of the vehicle bumpers. Designed to fit all conditions, a no drill car parking sensor can detect any person, vehicle or any other object located even behind your car. The sensors provide you with early warnings, which prevent serious collisions.

The no drill car parking sensor has an edge over the Ultra Sonic sensors, since it saves you from drilling of the bumpers, mounting, and painting or managing wires hanging over the car. After installation, the sensors are invisible and totally discrete. In contrast to the ultrasonic parking sensors, the no drill variety can be easily mounted and there are no worries of matching the paint colour as you have made holes to install the sensor. Further, these parking sensors are maintenance free. Damage or faults in the Ultra Sonic sensors may require rewiring. Further, there is no need of cleaning, adjustment or testing of the sensors. Given that your car is more safe and protected from unnecessary collisions.

Reverse Parking Sensors - Excellent For Avoiding Accidents

Driving has become safer and simpler with the latest technology in parking sensors. With the crisis for parking space and frequent traffic jams, parking sensors are no more an extra addition to the driving tools, rather its has become a ‘must have’ device for vehicle safety.  Often it is seen that novice drivers commit mistakes while reversing the car. This results in damage to the car as well as other cars.

Even an expert driver would find it difficult to park a car where there is crunch of space. It needs good concentration, efficient and accurate judgment as well as excellent car handling skills to park a car in a narrow space.  Parking also depends on the type of car you are using. It is always easier to park a small family car, however, this is not the case with luxury sedans which have a large turning radius and are not easy to manoeuvre.

There are several cases of accidents while the driver backs up on the reverse gear. There are two main fallacies behind this - the reverse gear and objects seen in the rear view mirror and appear much closer.  The novice drivers often dash the objects behind them.  The best solution to such problems is a reverse parking sensor. These are perfect tools for parking your car in the restricted space without much hassle.

A reverse sensor is designed to assist the driver while reversing the vehicle by emitting a beeping tone when an obstacle comes in close proximity behind the vehicle. The tone produced by the device assists the driver to avoid damage from bumping into other vehicles or obstructions.

Types of reverse parking sensors

Although there are several types of reverse parking sensors, they can be divided into three broad categories - 4 sensors system, 6 sensor systems and parking system having a rear camera.

  • 4 sensors system: These comprise a main unit, simple monitor that shows left to right distance and 4 pieces of radar sensors.  The simple monitor with left and right LED light bar, in addition to central digit display makes parking a lot easier.  Especially those with a buzzer are really helpful.
  • 6 sensors system: It includes a main unit, a monitor and 6 pieces of radar sensors. Two of the sensors are installed in the front corners and rest four sensors are installed in the rear.  These parking sensors help the drivers to look out the front corners. There are two types of monitors available, LCD and VDF monitors.  However, it is difficult to view the LCD in daylight, whereas the reverse parking sensor with VDF is suitable for all climates.

Parking system with rear camera: Such systems consist of night vision CCD camera and 4 radar sensor. Certain systems also come with monitor like rear view mirror with 7" TFT LCD. The system is an excellent aid for reverse aid and parking. This backup sensor helps the drivers to view what is going on behind the vehicle.

Working of parking sensors

In the reverse gear, the system gets engaged in an immediate, self-diagnostic, automatic function of mapping the obstructions in the surrounding area. This constant monitoring of the bumpers assists in reversing the vehicle with 100% accuracy. It offers three different audible tone Zones according to the distance of the obstacle from the space. This alerts the driver on proximity with the surrounding objects.  There are also reverse sensors with LED display indicating the distance from an object. Therefore, a reverse parking sensor relieves the driver of worries about accidents while reversing.

Invisible car parking sensor - Hidden protection against accidents

When parking in unfamiliar places there are chances that you can bump to other cars and objects that may cause dents on your car’s body. For worse, there is a chance for the child stepping out behind you to cross the road while you are going to reverse. With the parking sensors, it is much easier and safer to drive. These sophisticated devices are safe and they pay for themselves within a short period. An invisible car parking sensor is now available as factory-fitted item for some vehicles. However, invisible car parking sensors are also available that can be installed on your present vehicle. The sensors are fitted in the front and rear of the vehicles and they measure the proximity of objects to the vehicle and produce an audible warning as you drive closer to them.

Invisible electromagnetic parking sensors

Increasing cases of theft has lead to the emergence of invisible car parking sensors. Latest Electromagnetic Parking Sensor (EPS) system is completely concealed by sticking the strip sensor on the inner surface of the bumper. The system consists of acoustic alert unit, strip aluminum sensor and control module. Appearance of the bumper doesn’t change after installation of the parking sensor. It offers total protection to the back of the vehicle avoiding any blind spot close to the bumper.

On applying the reverse gear, the parking system is automatically activated. An electromagnetic field is automatically generated by the strip sensor. As an obstacle enters the electromagnetic field, the field is perturbed which results in a change in relation to the distance of the obstacle.  This perturbation gets detected at a distance of eighty centimeters ahead of bumper. This is transformed into an acoustic signal that increases as the obstacle gets closer. Actually it is a proximity sensor, which is automatically activated with the insertion of the back gear.

The EPS has been pioneered in the market to reproduce a completely new system with a flexible metallic strip hidden INSIDE the bumper. The most unique feature of the parking sensor is that it is completely invisible from outside when installed. The object near the bumper of the car is picked by the EPS parking sensor. The field of the sensor is not dependent on two or four sensors; rather it covers the whole length of the bumper. Therefore, these systems don’t miss any area like the normal ultrasonic systems.

Unlike the visible oval or round sensors drilled into the bumper, which spoils glamour of today’s prestige cars, these sophisticated devices are perfectly concealed. Further, as the electronic control unit of EPS is very compact (almost the size of a cigarette pack) they can be comfortably installed in the baggage compartment of the car. Additionally, since the parking sensor is invisible and installed inside the bumper, it has lesser risk of damaged.

Merits of the electromagnetic parking sensors

  • These can be easily concealed during installation and doesn’t modify the vehicle appearance.
  • It gets activated automatically on engaging the reverse gear
  • The detection range of the device starts from 0.8m approximately
  • Acoustic signal becomes strong as the object gets closer
  • The device guarantees better and more efficient maneuvering during the parking operation

An invisible parking sensor could be your best purchase; it would not only prevent an accident but also save a life. Moreover, it improves the security of your vehicle and you can park it with no one required to watch.
