Parking Sensor Buyers Guide

Simplified, a Parking Sensor also known as a Car Parking Sensor, Parking Aid or Reverse Parking Sensor enables you to carry out accurate and safe parking and reversing manoeuvres without the anxiety of bumping your Car, Vehicle, Van, 4x4, Motorhome, Caravan, Trailer or Horse Box. It is literally like having eyes located in your front and rear bumper.

PD1 Electromagnetic Technology v's Ultrasonic Sensors

There are 2 types of parking sensor technologies available on the market. The older less reliable technology is ultrasonic and typically uses 4 or 6 sensors that mount in the bumper for all to see. Holes need drilling in your bumper to mount and they need painting to match your bumper colour.

Also many ultrasonic systems are physically too deep to install in to bumpers, due to the crash protection bar behind the bumper. The PD1 eliminates this problem!

The Parking Dynamics PD1 uses a new unique Electromagnetic Wave Technology, used only by a few elite car manufacturers and this offers a unique design that discretely mounts on the inner side of the bumper preserving the 'new factory look' of your vehicle, so only you will know it is fitted.

Ultrasonic technology having 4 or 6 visible and exposed sensors does need regular maintenance and cleaning. Electromagnetic technology is not exposed, is self diagnostic and requires no maintenance.

Many accidents occur because drivers can't see the corners of their car and how far the edge of the bumpers protrude from the rest of the body. The electromagnetic design allows for this, as the antenna covers the entire length of the bumper and this is superior to the ultrasonic type that cannot detect objects at the very corners and onto the sides.

Introducing the "No Holes" Parking Dynamics PD1 Parking Sensor

The Parking Dynamics PD1 Parking Sensor uses a No-Drill, No-Holes, Unique, Discrete, 100% Responsive and Reliable Electromagnetic Technology making parking Safer and Easier, preventing Bumps, Scrapes and Tragic Accidents. Whatever vehicle the PD1 is fitted to, you can rest assured that the aesthetic clean lines of your car and bumper will be untouched maintaining and maximising its resale value.

Save on your Car Insurance

As recently reported by the insurance industry, 33% of vehicle accidents are now caused by driver error, when parking and reversing! With more cars on the road now than ever before, the Risk is even greater for accidents to occur. The Parking Dynamics PD1 will give you peace-of-mind and total parking confidence.

This simple device will pay for itself many times over by reducing the number of small bangs in which you are involved. Completely eliminating the chance of putting your No Claims Bonus at risk!

All Round Parking Protection (front parking sensors & rear parking sensors)

Parking Dynamics PD1 is available in 3 options; Front, Rear and Front & Rear Pack. Both sensors work on the same ultra effective electromagnetic concept and operation but have 2 very different alert tones to distinguish them apart.

Both sensors work independently on separate circuits and ultimately give you the all round protection required for effortless and bump-free parking manoeuvres.

PD1 Rear Parking Sensor

When reverse gear is engaged the PD1 Rear parking sensor provides an instant, automatic, self-diagnostic function that maps out the surrounding area of your bumper constantly monitoring this as you reverse with 100% accuracy, providing you with 3 different audible tones (Zones) alerting you of your proximity in relation to surrounding objects!

As you reverse Zone 1 (furthest away from your vehicle) picks up the object first.

Zone 1: 80 to 50 cm in length - The 1st tone signals with a slow "be-be-be" sound

Zone 2: 50 to 25 cm in length - The 2nd tone is a faster "be-be-be" sound

Zone 3: 25cm and less - the 3rd tone is a constant "beeeeeep" sound

PD1 Front Parking Sensor

Activate the PD1 Front by pressing the included push-button switch that discretely mounts under your steering wheel for easy access. When activated the parking sensor system provides an instant, automatic, self-diagnostic function that maps out the surrounding area of your front bumper constantly monitoring this as you manoeuvre with 100% accuracy, providing you with different audible tones (Zones) alerting you of your proximity in relation to surrounding objects!

As you move forwards Zone 1 (furthest away from your vehicle) picks up the object first.

Zone 1: 70 cm to 20 cm in length - The 1st tone signals with a "be-be-be" sound increasing in frequency as you approach the obstacle.

Zone 2: From 15 to 20 cm away from the obstacle - The 2nd tone is a low frequency "beeeeep" sound.

*The PD1 Front is acutely sensitive and enables you to park in very tight spaces.

PD1 Vision Rear Parking Sensor

When reverse gear is engaged the PD1 Rear parking sensor provides an instant, automatic, self-diagnostic function that maps out the surrounding area of your bumper constantly monitoring this as you reverse with 100% accuracy, providing you with 3 different audible tones (Zones) alerting you of your proximity in relation to surrounding objects.

The PD1 Vision also provides you with 3 distinctive visual colours on the interior mirror mounted display; Green, Yellow and Red. The displays work in sync with the audible tones to give you an all round flexible alert system.

As you reverse Zone 1 (furthest away from your vehicle) picks up the object first.

Zone 1: 80 to 50 cm in length - The 1st tone signals with a slow "be-be-be" sound and the green light displays

Zone 2: 50 to 25 cm in length - The 2nd tone is a faster "be-be-be" sound and the yellow light displays

Zone 3: 25cm and less - the 3rd tone is a constant "beeeeeep" sound

Technical Operation

When reverse gear is selected the small electronic control unit generates a electromagnetic field and transfers this to the transceiver adhesive strip that is placed on the inner side of and run the full length of your bumper.

The magnetic strip then sends out an elliptical magnetic field to cover full the area around your bumper, rear and sides. The transceiver strip works by sending and receiving unlike ultrasonic parking sensors that require 2 types of sensors, one to send and one to receive; if they become dirty the ultrasonic performance can deteriorate.

Mass is then monitored by the control unit by translating this into a voltage. When an object (i.e. people, kerbs, cars, etc) heavier in mass than the magnetic field enters this elliptical zone, an increase in voltage is detected by the control unit and you are then informed of your proximity by a series of audible tones how close you are to the object. You can then manoeuvre accordingly with omre than enough time to react.

PD1 is 100% Compatible:

CAN Bus Systems

Many new cars and vehicles now come with the CAN Bus multiplex wiring system fitted. The PD-1 is fully CAN Bus compatible and requires no adjustment or extra accessories when installing. Beware of ultrasonic sytems that require extra wiring and relay components in order to integrate with CAN Bus.

Being CAN bus compatible ensures the PD1 integrates seamlessly with both older conventional wiring systems and the latest intelligent CAN Bus multiplex wiring systems. Connect the wrong aftermarket product and it could be costly!

CAN Bus is a multiplexed wiring system used to connect intelligent devices such as Electronic Control Units (ECU's) on vehicles, allowing data to be transferred in a low-cost and reliable manner. CAN means 'Controller Area Network' and was developed by Bosch in 1980. Many new cars and vehicles use this system and it is becoming increasingly difficult to install after-market products without using a CAN Bus compatible device.

Vehicles with a Tow Bar

Parking Dynamics PD1 is the recommended Parking Sensor for vehicles with a Tow bar fitted as performance is not affected. Its the only Parking Sensor available that is compatible with vehicles that have a towbar fitted.

Vehicles with Spare Wheel on Rear Door

The Parking Dynamics PD1 will continue to operate effectively when fitted to vehicles with a Spare Wheel on the rear door such as 4x4, MPV or SUV's. We have fitted many PD1 parking sensors to these vehicles without problems.

Vehicles with a Metal Bumper

The Parking Dynamics PD1 is NOT compatible with metal bumpers straight out of the box. However with a few insulating adjustments to your metal bumper, the PD1 will be fully compatible.

Customer Testimonials

I can't believe the ease by which the parking sensor was fitted and we just love the discrete 'hidden' sensor design. What a difference the PD1 makes to both mine and my wife's parking and reversing.

The audible alert keeps our attention to a maximum level and really helps with tight parking spaces.
